Project Description:

The proponent proposes to increase the production of lumber and wood products at its existing sawmill operation from 500,000 fbm (fbm = foot board measure) to 3 million fbm.  The increase would allow the company to meet the demands of its customers, in particular those in the mining and exploration industries. The sawmill is located on Side Cut Road, south of Springdale Junction in central Newfoundland.

• March 7, 2022 – The undertaking was registered.
• April 14, 2022 – Deadline for public comments.
• April 21, 2022 – The Minister’s decision is due.
• May 4, 2022 – The Minister’s decision is due (extended).
• May 18, 2022 – The Minister’s decision is due (extended).
• May 18, 2022 – The Minister’s decision is due (extended).
• May 25, 2022 – The Minister’s decision is due (extended).
• June 3, 2022 – The Minister announced the project is released.
• July 28, 2022 – Waste Management Plan approved.
