Project Description:
The City of St. John’s is proposing to construct two earthen berms and erosion control measures along the Rennies River, to reduce flooding and associated effects between Portugal Cove Road to King’s Bridge Road. Construction of the berms would include clearing of vegetation, grubbing organic matter, and earthworks. Construction of the bank stabilization would include vegetation clearing and placement of the new materials required to stabilize the bank. This undertaking is expected to occur over a six month period during spring/summer 2021.
- February 2, 2021 – The undertaking was registered.
- March 10, 2021 – Deadline for public comments.
- March 19, 2021 – The Minister’s decision is due.
- March 18, 2021 – Environmental Preview Report (EPR) is required.
- March 18, 2021 – Environmental Assessment Committee is appointed.
- May 16, 2021 – EPR Guidelines are due to be issued.
- April 21, 2021 – The Minister issued the EPR Guidelines.
- September 28, 2022 – EPR submitted for review.
- November 3, 2022 – Deadline for public comments on the EPR.
- November 12, 2022 – The Minister’s decision on the EPR is due.
- November 25, 2022 – The Minister’s decision on the EPR is due (extended).
- December 9, 2022 – The Minister’s decision on the EPR is due (extended).
- December 1, 2022 – The Minister determined the project is released.
