Project Description:
The proponent plans to construct a mink fur farm near Harcourt, Smith Sound, Trinity Bay. The proposed fur farm will be located on a 54 hectare site, located approximately 1 kilometre east of Ryders Brook Bridge, accessed off route 232, on a former agriculture lease held by Mr. Robert Stanley. The proponent plans to introduce 3,500 bred females and to increase to 10,000 female breeders within 3 years thus producing approximately 50,000 kits. Construction on the site will include sheds to house the mink and other related structures.
- August 31, 2004 – The undertaking was registered.
- October 5, 2004 – Public comments are due.
- October 15, 2004 – The Minister’s decision is due.
- October 26, 2004 – The Minister announced the project has been released from further environmental assessment review.
