Summary of Environmental Assessment Process

Project Description:

The proponent plans to make available for sale a maximum of 27 additional float plane hangar lots on 4.2 hectares of land at the south end of Paddy’s Pond by extending the current access road by 0.86 kilometres westward, on the Avalon Peninsula. The road will be contracted to be built to Class 1 (gravel road) standards and development will be undertaken by individual owners once the lots have been allocated (limited to facilities for float plane docking and storage). Construction could proceed as early as December 2004.

• October 25, 2004 – The undertaking was registered.
• November 30, 2004 – Public comments are due.
• December 9, 2004 – The Minister’s decision is due.
• January 5, 2005 – The Minister announced the project has been released from further environmental assessment review.
