Project Description:

The proponent proposes to develop the Argyle gold mine project near the community of Ming’s Bight on the Baie Verte Peninsula. The project will include an open pit mine and stockpile areas for waste rock and ore materials. The mining operation is anticipated to include an average of 530 tonnes per day of ore and 3,550 tonnes per day of waste material. The open pits (east and west) will produce approximately 405,000 tonnes of ore and 2,228,000 tonnes of waste rock over the lifespan of the mine. The proposed project site area is approximately 37.5 hectares in total. Processing and milling of the ore is planned to be at the proponent’s Pine Cove Mill site by a network of access roads approximately 6.5 kilometres long.

  • July 26, 2018 – Environmental Assessment Committee appointed.
  • September 1, 2018 – EPR Guidelines due to be issued.
  • September 14, 2018 – EPR Guidelines issued.
  • September 21, 2018 – EPR Submitted.
  • November 5, 2018 – The Minister announced that the project is released.
