Project Description:

The proponent has submitted a proposal for a Five-Year Forest Management Plan for Zone 2, which is located in eastern area of the Island of Newfoundland. The project extends from Long Harbour River, Northwest River, and Terra Nova National Park in the west to Come By Chance in the east and includes all of the Bonavista Peninsula, Burin Peninsula, and all of the islands in Placentia Bay. The plan describes commercial and domestic timber harvesting operations, construction of access roads and silviculture activities. The plan covers the period from January 1, 2022 to December 31, 2026.

• August 12, 2021 – The undertaking was registered.
• September 16, 2021 – Deadline for public comments.
• September 26, 2021 – The Minister’s decision is due.
• October 18, 2021 – The Minister’s decision is due (extended).
• November 18, 2021 – The Minister’s decision is due (extended).
• January 5, 2022 – The Minister announced that the project is released.
