Seeking Provincial Trade Advisory Committee (PTAC) Members

The ability to help improve apprenticeship and trade certification in Newfoundland and Labrador lies in the hands of industry employers and employees. Industry takes the lead while government plays a supporting role.

ATCD is seeking people who are Red Seal Certified and interested in:

  • giving back to their trade
  • helping to maintain high quality apprenticeship standards
  • helping apprentices gain certification, mobility and flexibility through apprenticeship training
  • lending their expertise and enthusiasm to their trade

PTAC members provide their expert knowledge and guidance to the Provincial Apprenticeship and Certification Board (PACB) on matters pertaining to their trade, including:

  • review and development of curriculum standards, training tool and equipment lists, and apprenticeship logbooks
  • validation of Provincial/Atlantic/Interprovincial Examinations
  • validation of Atlantic and National Occupational Standards
  • other issues as requested by the PACB

Interested Journeypersons in the trades below are invited to submit an application to ATCD, by visiting Provincial Trade Advisory Committees (PTAC) – Immigration, Population Growth and Skills (gov.nl.ca).

♦ New Designated Trade: Aircraft Maintenance Engineer

Aircraft Maintenance Engineer (AME) was designated as a provincial trade by the Provincial Apprenticeship and Certification Board (PACB) in April, 2019.

Current licensed AMEs are now able to apply to obtain a Certificate of Qualification to be recognized as a journeyperson in this trade.  The application form can be found here.

Training is available for Aircraft Maintenance Engineers at College of the North Atlantic’s Gander campus.
