Specialized Training – Process for Administration

  1. Training institutions invited to submit proposals by given deadline, and are provided a guideline for submission requirements.
  2. Submitted proposals are assessed by the Apprenticeship and Trades Certification Division (ATCD) to ensure courses meet set criteria for approval.
  3. Letters of approval or rejection are forwarded to training institutions.
  4. Training institutions contact potential nominees for approved courses (nominees must be unemployed and EI eligible).
  5. Nominees must confirm their availability with the training institution to attend the course.
  6. Training institutions must submit a request for training form via email to pjst@gov.nl.ca with the nominee list a minimum of 4 weeks prior to training start date.
  7. Before submitting nominee names, training institutions must ensure: those with out-of-province journeyperson status have contacted ATCD to be verified (refer to request for training form for instructions).
  8. ATCD will confirm nominee eligibility, and advise training institutions via email within 5 working days.
  9. ATCD will issue class calls via email directly to eligible nominees.
  10. At the end of the training period, training institutions submit attendance sheets along with invoices for payment.
  11. ATCD will process payments.
