Application Process
Eligibility Criteria
If an apprentice receives a grade of less than 70% on the level exam (completed at the end of in-school training period), they may be eligible for a rewrite.
- One level exam rewrite will be permitted a minimum of 30 calendar days after the initial exam writing, and should be completed within a maximum of 90 days. See “How to Apply” below.
- To be eligible for a 3rd or subsequent exam attempt, a course of study approved by ATCD must be successfully completed. Please contact an Apprenticeship Program Officer to discuss options.
- Rewrite opportunities are scheduled monthly in each regional apprenticeship office.
How To Apply
- A Level Exam Rewrite Registration Form must be submitted.
- The form lists the locations and dates of monthly re-writes.
- Email the form to blockexams@gov.nl.ca or fax to 709-466-3987
- The apprentice will be notified via email of the details on the scheduled exam rewrite.
- To request a Breakdown of your level exam results, email blockexams@gov.nl.ca. A requested breakdown will ONLY be provided after the apprentice has registered for the rewrite.
Deadline to apply
A level exam rewrite registration form must be submitted a minimum of 3 weeks prior to the selected rewrite date. If an apprentice is unable to attend a scheduled rewrite, notice must be sent to blockexams@gov.nl.ca at least 3 business days prior to the scheduled exam date.
PLEASE NOTE: If an apprentice cannot attend the level exam rewrite on the date it is scheduled, the apprentice is required to send an email to blockexams@gov.nl.ca and provide supporting rationale before the exam can be rescheduled.
Decision-Making Process
- The Level Exam Coordinator assesses the level exam rewrite registration form, verifies eligibility to rewrite the exam, and confirms availability of space at the chosen exam location and date.
- A confirmation email will be sent to the apprentice at least one week before the scheduled rewrite date.
