In 2019, The Department of Environment, Climate Change and Municipalities completed a Desktop Environmental Review for the Former US Military Site known as Northwest Point, located at Northwest Point, Newfoundland and Labrador.  The purpose of the Environmental Review was to review available historical environmental reports for the Site and to identify sources of potential environmental contamination associated with the Site, which may exist as a result of past activities.

In 2009, the Department of Environment and Climate Change completed a Phase III Environmental Site Assessment (ESA) and a Human Health and Ecological Risk Assessment (HHERA) the Former US Military Site Northwest Point.  A Remedial Action Plan (RAP) was also developed for the Site.
