Policy Development and Legislative Affairs

The Policy Development and Legislative Affairs Division provides support for the strategic plans of the department and the regional health authorities in delivering quality health and community services. This is achieved through researching, analyzing and disseminating current evidence and best practices which inform the development and implementation of policies, programs and legislation. The division works collaboratively with staff in the department, other departments, research and health information organizations and key stakeholders to ensure that the most up-to-date and accurate information is available to support decision making. The division also provides administrative and advisory support services to the department in matters pertaining to legislation, regulations and by-laws and legal affairs generally and has the primary responsibility of working with self-regulated health professions with respect to interpretation, evaluation, and development/amendment of their legislation, regulations and by-laws.
