Residential Options:
Community care homes (CCHs) are an integral component of the Newfoundland and Labrador health and community services residential care system, as these homes provide specialized supportive housing in home-like settings for individuals living with serious mental illness. There are currently 12 privately operated CCHs, 11 located in CBS and one located in the Goulds.

The Community Care Home Program was established in the 1950s by the Waterford Hospital to provide 24-hour supervised housing for discharged patients. Today, the CCHs are part of the Housing Division of the Mental Health and Addictions Program of Eastern Health, which provides residential care and support to individuals with severe and persistent mental illness.

For more information, please contact Grace O’Brien, the Coordinator of the Community Care Program at Eastern Health at 709-834-0810 or email Grace.Obrien@easternhealth.ca.
